Context

Nowadays In Italy, there is a significant emphasis on recycling all kinds of waste. However, it is unclear how effective the recycling process is in the country. Across Europe, the recycling rate for packaging, municipal, and electronic waste has been around 46% since 2016. This rate is only moderate, and in the long run, it could worsen the consequences of climate change. The problem of waste continuously affects the environment, and people tend to treat it as a norm. It is evident from social media that waste is one of the most significant issues, and it continuously requires urgent attention. I have a goal of creating a new service that encourages people to think about waste and recycling behaviors and motivates them to take action to address global environmental issues. My primary focus is on bringing this innovative concept to Italy, where I hope to inspire positive change and increase environmental consciousness among the population.

Objective

At the project's culmination, the primary objective is to revolutionize the manner in which individuals sort and recycle waste, rendering the process more efficient and advantageous for humanity. This initiative will concurrently reinforce government-enacted waste regulation policies by disseminating pertinent information to the public, empowering them to contribute to environmental betterment proactively in the near future.

About Rint

The Rint organization is planning to offer services through an application and exhibition to encourage people to recycle more. They will be working in collaboration with local supermarkets to enhance recycling behavior among people who use their products in the country. This initiative aims to make a positive impact on the environment by promoting recycling activities and collecting recycling data to track progress. The mission of the Italian government is to achieve a 65% waste recycling rate by 2030, and Rint's efforts align with this goal.

Users can scan supermarket receipts via the app to organize and categorize purchases by provider, linking them to relevant activities. The system evaluates product lifespans to align activities with expiration dates, ensuring seamless and accurate tracking.

Rint is a powerful system that scans receipts from the partner's database to generate accurate item lists and deliver efficient results. By analyzing products daily, it ensures precise recycling hints and error-free information, offering users reliable guidance.

The Mission page will show participation levels by Partner Brand, detailing the number of participants in each Mission category to boost motivation and competition. Participants engage based on the quantity of products purchased from the brand at the supermarket. Rewards and points may vary across the partner's channels.

Gamification can boost recycling behavior by engaging users in daily tasks tied to their supermarket purchases. The game features color-coded bins for learning waste separation and tracks participants' progress to encourage competition. Users will also stay informed about the exhibition timeline for added engagement.
